Best Start in Life and Family Hubs Engagement Worker

Service: Family Action Perinatal Support Service

Salary: Starting at £28,884, increasing to £31,698 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours)

Location: Across the Bradford District

Hours: 37 hours per week (full-time) - We would consider 4 days, 29.6 hours per week.

Contract: Temporary until end of March 2027, subject to funding. Potential to extend when funding in place.

The Best Start in Life programme provides extra support to families to improve children's lives, from when the baby is conceived up to the age of five. Family Hubs support families with children and young people of all ages, and at every stage of family life. Family Hubs are places in the heart of the community where you can attend appointments, meet with staff for a chat, or take part in courses and activities.

Main Responsibilities:
• Planning forward to attend sessions across Bradford District in the Family Hubs, satellite sites, and community venues. Engaging with families to share information about the Best Start in Life programme, and encourage participation in the Family Hubs and their offer.
• Be the friendly face and welcoming presence in sessions and clinics, building rapport with the parents/carers and children who attend, and engaging with them.
• Signposting and referring into Best Start in Life projects, and to Family Hub activities, and the Family Navigators.
• Supporting families to access and navigate on the Families and Young People’s information (FYI) website and use this to find out what is happening in their local area.
• Liaising with Family Hub staff, including Family Navigators, and with Best Start in Life projects, professionals and community workers across the system and local area.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• Personal experience of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting, or have supported people in the first 1001 days.
• Experience of supporting families and communities, and of community engagement or outreach work, and advising and signposting.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously, including forward planning for sessions to attend, in order to maximise impact of the role.
• Good networking and engagement skills, able to both be friendly and welcoming in engaging with families, and in building connections with professionals and community workers.
• Appointments are subject to Family Action, receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
